Social program

The social program includes the welcome reception, conference dinner and party. All taking place at beautiful and historic locations in the city centre of Utrecht.

Welcome reception

All participants are invited to join the welcome reception on Sunday. You will be welcomed with an opening ceremony at the Dum church, followed by the reception where you can meet your fellow researchers. The reception will take place in the Auditorium of the University Hall and the Pandhof garden of the Domchurch. This great location is situated just next to the Dom church.

The University Hall is a beautiful monumental building and is Utrecht University’s ceremonial heart. The Auditorium, the oldest part of the University Hall, was completed in 1462. The Pandhof garden, laying just in between the University Hall and the Dom church, is one of Hollands most beautiful inner courtyards. It is a monastery garden with medieval style elements, from where you have a magnificent view of the Dom tower and church.

In 1839, Anton Sinkel’s ultramodern department store (‘winkel’ in Dutch) at the Oudegracht was opened. Archited P. Adams designed the large neo-classical building. Today, this is a grand café and festival palace.
